Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has sparked reactions online after describing Instagram as an app primarily for girls.
Musk made the remark on X while responding to a user who announced that they had deleted their Instagram account.
The X user wrote that they had “officially deleted Instagram,” describing the platform as an “inherently female app” and saying they saw little benefit in using it.
Musk responded briefly to the post, writing: “Instagram is for girls.”
The comment quickly attracted attention because of Musk's large following on X and his history of making short, provocative remarks about social media platforms.
Instagram, owned by Meta, remains one of the world's major social-media platforms, with users across different age groups and genders.
